An Engagement More Than Fulfilled
by Vlado Chuchkov, The Evening, November 1991
Review extracts follow, focusing on conductor Simon Romanos.
…place a spell on the orchestra and the audience, and to charm them with the beauty, diversity and strength of their vision…
The only in his mid-30s, Simon Romanos belongs to that group of conductors who are not just great connoisseurs of the substance they interpret, but also serve as an intermediary between the orchestra and the audience. By their very presence they are able to place a spell on the orchestra and the audience, and to charm them with the beauty, diversity and strength of their vision.
This artist, who for his age has quite a reputation, had a chance to display his many gifts in this varied concert: the overture to l’Italiana in Algieri by Rossini, and the Fourth Symphony of P.I. Tchaikovsky.
